WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNCIL ANNUAL MEETING. COUNCILLOR A. E. REID CHAIRMAN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council was held at Carterton today. The retiring chairman, Councillor F. Court, before vacating the chair, said he would like to say how much he appreciated the assistance that had been given him by the councillors, the county overseer, Mr J. A. Wallace, the water race overseer, Mi’ H. J. McKenzie, and the staff generally. The County Clerk, Mr E. T. Beaven, called for nominations for the office of chairman for the current term.
Councillor A. E. Reid was nominated by Councillors E. W. Allen and R. O. Rayner. There being no other nomination he was declared elected. Mr Reid returned thanks for the honour conferred upon him, and said he would do his best for the county generally, though he realised he had a very heavy task to live up to the work done by his predecessors in office. The Council passed a vote of thanks to the retiring chairman, Mr Court, which was carried by acclamation.
