COUNTY AFFAIRS

MEETING OF FEATHERSTON COUNCIL VICTORY BOOK DRIVE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council was held at Martinborough today. The chairman, Mr A. B. Martin presided and there were also present Councillors J. C. Bidwill, C. Cameron, Q. Donald, R. W. Matthews, L. J. Thompson and G. Gillies. Apologies for absence were received from Councillors J. A. McLeod and' R. Smith. In reply to a letter from the Wellington drive for men overseas it was stated that the local R.S.A. had the matter in hand., Messrs H. Hardinge (County Clerk) and Mr H. Toogood (engineer) were appointed delegates to the annual conference of the N.Z. Counties’ Association. It was decided to fence the holding paddock at Kahutara. Accounts for £4,491 were passed. The ranger reported having impounded 5 head of stock; 105 dogs were registered.
