AXIS ATROCITIES

SLAVE MARKET ORGANISED IN RUSSIA I SOVIET NOTE TO ALLIES. CRIMES LISTED WITH PROMISE OF RETRIBUTION. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, May 12. The Soviet Foreign Minister, M. Molotov, yesterday handed all the envoys in Moscow a Note charging that Germany had created a special slave market to deal with the Soviet citizens deported to the Reich from occupied territory, reports Moscow radio. The Note asserted that the German Government organised the slave market after it had been decided at a secret meeting in Berlin in November 1941, over which Field-Marshal Goering presided, to deport Russians as slaves. The Note claimed that proof of the charges had been secured through documents captured by the Red Army, statements from captured German officers and soldiers, and statements from Russian citizens. Russia, the Note stated, would retaliate for the atrocities commited by the Germans against Russian citizens and for the forced deportation to Germany. The beastly exploitation and systematic extermination would take a special place in the long list of the German invaders’ crimes. The Note added that Herr Fritz Sauckel, who was placed in charge of the organisation, issued an order stating that the Fuehrer had given him the task of supplying Germany with healthy, selected girls. According to figures published in German newspapers, more than 700,000 Ukrainians had been sent to Germany and more than 2,000,000 workers had gone to Germany from the eastern territories.
