NIGHT & DAY BOMBING OF ENEMY. AMERICAN GENERAL’S VIEW. - (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 10. “I think it is a wonderful idea that the British should have planes for night bombing and we should have planes for high-level, precision day bombing. They form the greatest team ever built.” This declaration was made by Lieutenant-General Devers, the new commanding officer of “Etousa” —European Theatre of Operations, U.S.A., on-his arrival in London from Washington, via Iceland. “I have but one purpose,” he said. “It is to do all I can to win the war in the shortest possible time.” General Devers, who is an expert in armoured warfare, announced that his chief of staff would be an air officer, MajorGeneral Edwards.
