WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS.
(“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the Tinui Women's Institute, held in the local hall, Mrs Mac Alister presided over a good attendance of members. It was arranged to send a delegate to lhe conference at Gisborne in July. It was decided to hold a children’s plain and fancy dress dance in the Tinui Hall on May 14. Mrs L. E. Schofield, Sent., gave an interesting demonstration on the making of rag mats. Mrs I. Speedy thanked Mrs Schofield, and said the demonstration had been enjoyed by all.
The competitions resulted as follow: —Cooking: Nut loaf. Mrs Mac Alister 1, Mrs Beck 2, Mrs O'Hara 3. Sewing: Peg bag. made from a sugar bag, Mrs S. O'Hara 1, Mrs Beck 2, Mrs Mac Alister 3. Best bloom: Mrs S. O’Hara 1, Mrs Street, 2 and 3.
The hostesses were Mrs A. Owen and Miss E. Owen.
