MAURICEVILLE
SOLDIER ENTERTAINED SOCIAL GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Among social gatherings that have taken place in the district was a social and dance given in honour of L.A.C. Francis Evans, of “Forest Downs,” Mangamahoe. Mr E. W. Cheetham, in making a presentation on behalf of the residents of the district, referred to the esteem in which L.A.C. Evans was held. Recent reports disclose that L.A.C. Evans is making excellent progress in his training overseas. CROQUET ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Mauriceville Croquet Club was held at Mrs J. L. McArley’s residence on Thursday afternoon. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patroness, Mrs, J. W. Milner; president, Mrs H. Trass; secretary and treasurer, Mrs J. L. McArley; club captain, Mrs J. McKewn. Following the meeting members spent the rest of the afternoon knitting for patriotic purposes. Mrs McArley was thanked for the use of her residence for the occasion. Personal. Mrs C .M. Childs and her daughter. Pat, are at present visiting Auckland.
