MADE BY THE RUSSIANS IN DRIVE ON NOVOROSSISK. BIG AIR BATTLE IN PROGRESS. LONDON, May 9. The most important fighting on the Russian .front is still in the Kuban Country, where the Russians have widened the gap made in the German positions defending the naval base of Novorossisk. A big battle is being fought in the air over Novorossisk.

The Red Air Force is concentrating on enemy reinforcements which are being brought up and the enemy's lines of communications arc being constantly attacked. The Moscow radio says Soviet forces have captured a number of Gorman positions in a new advance south-west of Velikiye Luki, 75 miles from the Latvian border.
