HAUNUI CROQUET CLUB ANNUAL REPORT. . (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual report of the Haunui Croquet Club states inter alia: —We are sorry that owing to war work and sickness, some of our members have not been able to spend as much time as usual on the lawns, but hope that next season will see things more settled. The club’s thanks are due to all donors of trophies and for the co-oper-ation of the members. The closing day was held in beautiful weather, when the honorary members took part in competitions. A “bring and buy,” organised by Mrs Buck and Mrs Wilson, was most successful. After afternoon tea had been served our president, Miss Eva Card, in the absence of our patroness, Mrs Riddiford, who was unable to be present, presented the cups and trophies won during the season. There will be two big attractions presented tonight at the Cosy Theatre. “No Hands on the Clock” is a thrilling drama featuring Chester Morris, Jean Parker and Dick Purcell, while “Born to Sing” is a brilliant musical comedy, starring Virginia Weidler and Rayl MacDonald.
