WEDDING

CHARMAN—HANCOX. The marriage took place at the Cuba Street Methodist Church, Palmerston North, last Saturday, of Elsie Gladys, second daughter of Colonel and Mrs G. G. Hancox, of Ferguson Street, Palmerston North, and formerly of College House, Masterton, and Sergeant Eric Keith, younger son of Mr and Mrs A. R. Charman, of Lyall Bay, Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. L. Fiebig, and Mr L. Drake presided at the organ.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful gown of cream slipper satin, with lace yoke and sleeves and insets of lace on the train. A long flowing veil of embroidered tulle was held in place with a topknot of white gardenias. She carried a trailer bouquet of cream roses and carnations and maidenhair fern. Miss Gwendolyn Hancox (sister of the bride) was bridesmaid. She wore a pretty full-length frock of ciel blue lace with a topknot of blue flowers and a shoulder veil of pale blue tulle. Her trailer briquet was of deep pink roses and carnations.

Sergeant Lawson Pither, of Masterton, was best man. During the signing of the register Miss Myrtle Guy sang “Thanks be to God.”

The reception was held at the residence of the bride’s sister, Mrs A. H. Fisher, Junr., of Elmira Avenue. Mrs Fisher wore a gaily patterned frock of silk crepe in shades of grey and cyclamen. The guests were received by Mesdames Hancox and Charman. Mrs Hancox wore a jacket ensemble of deep cream roses and autumn foliage, and wore a brown felt hat. Mrs Charman was attired in navy blue silk marocaine, with a navy hat and accessories. Her bouquet was of crimson roses and cactus dahlias.

The bridal couple left by car for Taranaki, the bride travelling in a smart navy tailored suit with navy felt hat and accessories. Sergeant Lawson Pither piped them away.
