The help of 500,000 civilians to gather what is expected to be a record harvest for Britain was asked by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Hudson, speaking in London, a British Wireless message reports. He said he looked to London to supply help to the neighbouring counties, since the farm staffs were growing far more than they could hope to harvest unaided. As the war rose to its climax more ships would be required for military purposes, so still more food must be grown in Britain.
