MEETING IN MASTERTON. Miss Tankersley presided over a good attendance of members and friends at the monthly meeting of the Masterton Women’s Christian Temperance Union. An increase of five was reported in the Cradle Roll department. Mrs Dunwoodie supplied the Temperance fact as follows: “I do not know of anything that could be put in the place of strong drink which would approach it as a crime producer. —Lt.-Col. A. B. McHardy, C. 8.” Mrs H. Speight reported on the Dominion Convention held in Palmerston North. Mrs Morice submitted a report on 'the Red Cross Society meeting.
The hostesses, Mesdames Stone and Hansen, provided afternoon tea which was much appreciated.
