MADE BY RUSSIANS IN THRUST TOWARDS NOVOROSSISK AIRCRAFT STRIKING DEEP INTO ENEMY REAR. <, BEHIND MAIN BATTLE FRONTS. LONDON, May 6. The Russian army in the Kuban lias forced its way deeply into the enemy’s defences covering the Black Sea naval port of Novorossisk, the biggest, bastion now remaining in the German bridgehead. The Russian vanguard is reported to be only five miles from Novorossisk and is nearing the last range of mountains covering the port. The Russians are energetically developing their break through on a broad front and have advanced far beyond Krymskaya.
Planes of the Soviet Black Sea Fleet have struck at enemy supply ports as far away as Constanta, in Rumania and Yalta, in the Crimea. Hundreds of miles to the north, Russian bombers are striking at the enemy’s battle preparations deep in their rear, and for the third night running have bombed enemy supply centres.
