OBITUARY
MRS L. J. BOCKMANN. The death occurred-, at a private convalescent home in Wellington, of Mrs Lucia Josephine Bockmann, at the age of 78 years. Mrs Bockmann, who was born in Poland, arrived in New Zealand in 1883 with her parents, the late Mr and Mrs Michael Hoffmann, who, with their family, settled in Masterton. She was married in Masterton, where she resided with her husband and family till 1911, leaving that year to take up her residence in Picton. In 1939 Mrs Bockmann went to live with her youngest daughter in Lower Hutt, with whom she resided until a few months before her death Mrs Bockmann leaves one son, Mr Vincent Bockmann, now residing in England, and three daughters, Mrs G. Bottle (Australia), Mrs J. Love (Aotea, Queen Charlotte Sound), and Mrs A. Cudby (Pirie Street, Lower Hutt). There are also twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Requiem Mass was celebrated for her at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Lower Hutt, on Saturday, the funeral taking place at the Taita cemetery. The Rev. Father Cavanagh offeiated at both services. Many beautiful floral wreaths were received, showing the high esteem - in which she was held.
