SOUTH FEATHERSTON
EUCHRE PARTY & DANCE WAR SERVICES’ COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the fortnightly euchre party and dance held in the South Featherston Hall by the War Services’ Committee. Udy’s Orchestra supplied the music and Mr H. Graham carried out the duties of M.C.
The Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Mr R. Rasmussen and partner and Mr Leslie Bicknell and partner. A Lucky Spot dance was won by Miss Fay Rasmussen and partner. The card winners were as follow: — Ladies: Mrs Fairbrother, 1; Mrs Davis, Wellington, 2. Men: Mr P. A. Wilton, 1; Mr G. Hyland, 2. A cake donated by Mrs Carter was won by Mrs G. Cuff. Personal Items. Mrs Rae and Mr Colin Rae'have returned to Upper Hutt after having been the guests of Mrs Blain, South Featherston. Mrs A. Schenkel has returned to Auckland after a few days spent with her parents, Mr and Mrs Graham. Mrs Hankers, of Masterton, was a recent guest of Mrs H. Graham. Mrs Wakely is spending a holiday with relatives in Auckland. Mrs Cherry, of Masterton, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs R. Simmonds. Mrs A. Simmonds is spending a holiday at Lower Hutt.
Mrs Mills has returned to Waikanae after a few days spent with relatives in South Featherston. Mr and Mrs R. Simmonds has received word that their son, James, who is a prisoner of war, is seriously ill in hospital in Italy. Large Bags of Birds. Some large bags were obtained by local shooters on the opening day of the season, each one having secured their limit of ducks and swans.
