FAR FEWER SHIPS
SUNK BY U-BOATS IN APRIL
AS COMPARED WITH MARCH.
BERLIN COMMENTATOR’S ADMISSION.
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.3 a.m.) LONDON, May 3.
Discussing U-boat warfare, the Berlin radio’s commentator, Captain Sertorius, said: “It cannot be denied that the United Nations’ merchant fleets lost far fewer ships in April than in March (Berlin claimed 423,000 tons for April). The air defence of the Allies has made the U-boats’ fight much harder.” Sertorius blamed bad weather for the poorer results in April.
