RATHER CONFUSED
SITUATION IN NORTHERN IRELAND. BUT CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT EXPECTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) ■ LONDON, April 30. _ Some confusion exists as to the political situation in Northern Ireland. Early agency messages last night stated that Mr J. M. Andrews had resigned the Premiership and that Sir Basil Brooke has succeeded him, but later a Court Circular from Government House, Belfast, merely said that the Governor gave an audience to Mr Andrews, and “it is understood Sir B. Brooke will have an audience during the weekend.” Later still the Governor summoned Sir B. Brooke to see him tomorrow. The Press Association’s Belfast correspondent says Mr Andrews will tender his resignation in the course of a day or so, when Sir B. Brooke will be asked to form a Government.
