- Mr and Mrs Buick, of Masterton, are the guests of Mr and Mrs E. Kjestrup, Kaitawa. A well-known Bush Rugby footballer, .Lance Corporal Gordon T. Eddie, has died from wounds received in action. The death occurred in the Masterton Hospital yesterday of Rosina Reiri, the elevpn-year-old daughter of Mr and the late Mrs Apiti Reiri, of Te Whiti. Dr. Charles R. Burns, of Wellington, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, a London cablegram states. Dr Burns is a consulting physician practising in Wellington. The friends of Mrs G .H. Irvine, who resided at Masterton many years ago, will regret to learn of her death, which ocurred at Edinburgh, Scotland, on November 18 last. Her husband, the late Mr G. H. Irvine, when in Masterton, was art master at the Masterton Technical School. Their only son, who was born in Masterton, is now commander of one of the British warships overseas. The funeral of the late Mr L. H. Spackman, of Masterton, took place yesterday afternoon, the service at the chapel and that at the graveside being conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich. Many beautiful wreaths were in evidence, among them being those from the following: Officers and members of Stonehenge Lodge of Druids, Masterton Indoor Bowling Club, fellow workers at Waingawa Freezing Works, and Messrs T. Wagg and Co., Ltd. The pall bearers were Messrs F. Pickering, C. N. Cole, F. J. Clement and R. Spackman.
