DRAWING TOGETHER
DE GAULLE & GIRAUD GROUPS JOINT REPRESENTATION. AT UNITED NATIONS’ FOOD CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 29. French circles in Algiers believe that the proposals from the French National Committee in London, which General Catroux put to General Giraud, were received favourably. The Algiers radio said all main discrepancies of views had now been eliminated. Reuter’s diplomatic correspondent says that for a second time within a fortnight Generals de Gaulle and Giraud have acted in unison on behalf of France. Following on a combined move to cancel Vichy’s resignation from the League of Nations, they have agreed on the principle of joint French representation at the United Nations Food Conference at Hot Springs (Virginia). The French mission will be headed by M. Rene Alphand, Director of Economic Affairs to the Fighting French National Committee. The mission will include members both of Fighting France and of General Giraud’s administration.
