The Japanese, alarmed at the increasing submarine menace, are constructing a naval base north-east of Foochpw, said an Army spokesman. The Japanese are using Q-boats disguised as fishing trawlers, with a seasoned naval personnel, dressed as fishermen, ready for quick action against unsuspecting prey. The Japanese are also building a large airfield at Lungling, near the Burma Road and another at Ichang, presumably for operations against Chungking.
