AWARDED POSTHUMOUSLY TO VALIANT WING COMMANDER. EXPLOITS IN NORTH AFRICA. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY, April 27. Acting Wing Commander Hugh Malcolm has been posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross. The citation states: “This officer commanded a squadron of light bombers in North Africa and throughout his service in that theatre his leadership, skill and daring were of the highest order. Exploits leading to the award were attacks on the Bizerta airfield, under most perilous conditions. Acting Wing Commander Malcolm finally lost his life in a bombing exploit of great gallantry in support of the First Army-.”
