TURF TOPICS FORM AT TAUHERENIKAU. A Good Performance. . Poutatau, the black Colhisus gelding raced by Mr J. M. James, of Masterton, put up a good performance to take the third money in the Easter sprint at the C.J.C. meeting on Monday, Poutatau. has raced consistently this season. There should be more successes for the black in the future.

Cheerful Lady Improves. Cheerful Lady, racing under the colours of Mr A. V. Faulknor, of Lansdowne, was an improved mare on the second day of the Wairarapa meeting. Over the shorter journey on the first day the Defoe mare never seemed likely to win, but over a mile and a distance on the second day she set the pace and for most of the journey showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels. But for Nighean coming through on the rails to beat Cheerful Lady on the post by a head there would have been the lion's share of the stake for the local owner. Coming out for the second time that day Cheerful Lady scored a good second in the seven furlong sprint. Olein Again, Olein, Mr J. G. Donald’s chestnut mare, scored a popular win on the second day of the Wairarapa meeting. Bracketed on the machine with Hamish, Olein went out a firm favourite. It is understood that Trainer T. R. George intends giving the mare a' spell. Home Rule on the up Grade. Home Rule, Mr S. J. Newland’s brown gelding, arrived late on the first day of the Wairarapa meeting and ran without racing plates. On the second day it raced with plates on, and, with S. Anderson in the saddle, went out to the front early and stayed there to near the winning post where Singapore came up to win by half a neck. Enrich Off Form.

Enrich gave a most disappointing exhibition on the second day at Tauherenikau after a good effort on the first day. Consistent Nighean. The consistent Nighean ran two splendid races to take the major portion of the stake money for the big events on both days. Enlarge Too Good. 1 Enlarge was too good for his opponents on both days at the Wairarapa meeting. More should be heard of this one.
