Mrs Gordon Grylls, who had spent Easter in Masterton, returned to Wellington today.
Miss O’Hara Smith, Renall Street Masterton, has returned from a short visit to Dannevirke.
Mrs Johnson, North Auckland, is staying with her mother, Mrs Dickens, Pownall Street, Masterton.
Mr and Mrs A. B. Williams, of Cornwall Street, Masterton, wish to announce the engagement of their eldest daughter, Josie, to Trooper Donald Ira, second son of Mr and Mrs I. S. Cullen, Ohakune.
The re-election of Mr J. Roberts as president, Mr Nordmeyer, M.P., as vicepresident, and Mr M. Moohan, as national secretary, was reported at the New Zealand Labour Party Conference in Wellington yesterday. The death occurred at Tauranga on Sunday of Mr Sidney Kirkcaldie, for some years chairman of directors of Kirkcaldie and Stains, Ltd., Wellington. Mr Kirkcaldie was the eldest son of the late Mr John Kirkcaldie, one of the founders of the firm in the last century.
Miss Isa MacDonald, formerly of the staff of the Para Rubber Co., Ltd., Masterton, has taken up a position in the W.A.A.F. Prior to her departure from Masterton, she was the guest at several social gatherings, and was made presentations by her many friends., with whom she is very popular. By arrangement with the Commonwealth Government an official delegation consisting of Messrs W. Marshall and J. S. Reid, together with Mr G. R. Pottinger, Deputy-Director of Marketing, has been sent' to Australia to discuss matters arising out of the economic stabilisation policies of both countries, including internal costs and price levels.
