Tramping clubs, which carry on without “gates” to finance them, had their activities highly praised at the meeting of the National Council of Physical Welfare and Recreation. It was said that away from the public eye and ear they were performing well for their country. The leaders had spared no pains to encourage young folk to “pack up their troubles in their old kit bags,” and seek refreshment of mind and body in beautiful scenes.
