MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE
SEQUEL TO STREET FATALITY IN DANNEVIRKE. TRUCK DRIVER COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, April 19. A sequel to the recent fatality in High Street, Dannevirke, when Leslie James Pearson, aged 15, was killed through being thrown from the tray of a motor truck upon which he was riding was heard in the Dannevirke Magistrate’s Court this morning. William Clarence Carson, bridge builder, Dannevirke, was charged that on April 3 he was in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor vehicle, and by an act in relation thereto caused the death of Pearson. Sergeant J. McKie conducted the case for the police, and accused was represented by Mr P. W. Dorrington. Mr W. W. Dassler, J.P., and Mrs A. Smith, J.P., were on the bench. Accused, who pleaded not guilty, was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Napier.
