AUSTRALIAN LOAN

BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN FULLY SUBSCRIBED

GREAT RUSH ON LAST DAY.

DELAY IN COMPILING FINAL FIGURES.

(Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.

Australia’s third Liberty Loan of £100,000,000, which closed on Tuesday, is believed to have been fully subscribed. The last day rush to subscribe to the loan was the greatest on record. Ten million pounds were required to fill the loan on the last day, but the volume of business handled in all States was so great that it was impossible to compile accurate figures and some days will elapse before the final result can be given. In its earlier stages the loan lagged badly, but heavy subscriptions were made during the last week. Subscribers are expected to number more than 350,000. The Austerity Loan, also of £100,000,000, had 458,000 subscribers.
