CALEDONIAN SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING HELD LAST NIGHT. GOOD YEAR’S WORK RECORDED. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held in Masterton last night. Mr H. E. Pither presided over a fair attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The society, stated the report, had suffered the loss of many members through death and sympathy was extended to their relatives. Many members were in the Armed Forces. Four inglesides were held during the year and all were highly successful. Tribute was paid to the work of the ladies committee. The election of officers resulted:— Chief, Mr T. S. Arcus; president, Mr J. McKenzie; vice-presidents, Messrs C. H. McKenzie, J. J. Hunter, and W. James; directors, Messrs G. Beecraft, R. McKenzie, J. Kerslake, C. A. Burling, W. R. Nicol, I. Cameron, J. Colquhoun, P. Smith, and P. G. Ramsay; h'on. treasurer, Mr W. S. L. Dickson; hon. auditor, Mr F. M. Cunningham. The retiring president, Mr Pither, was congratulated on his splendid services during his term of office. The secretary, Mr D. B. Curry, was thanked for his excellent and efficient services. It was decided to hold the first Ingleside on May 11 and the second on June 8. The functions are to be open to members and their friends.
