He had pleasure in also extending a welcome to Mr J. Robertson, M.P., and to Mrs Robertson, and he asked Mr Robertson to declare the season open. Mr Robertson expressed his pleasure in being present. He said he hoped to be able to take an active interest in the game himself. He joined with the club captain in their welcome to the visiting members of the armed forces, and, speaking for the members of the club, he assured them that the privileges of the course would always be available to them during their stay amongst them. He declared the season open, and expressed the wish that it would be a successful and enjoyable one for all.
