CARTERTON

BOWLING AFFAIRS DISCUSSION BY DELEGATES. (“Times-Age'’ Special.) A most enjoyable time was spent on the Carterton bowling green on Saturday by the Centre delegates, who were afforded an opportunity of meeting and discussing Centre affairs prior to the closing of the bowling season. The visitors were welcomed by Mr G. Barr, president of the Carterton Club, who expressed the hope that all would find the green up to expectations. In reply, Mr Geo. Hayne, president of the Centre, said how pleased he was to be able to meet the delegates of the various clubs, and trusted that a very happy and profitable time would ensue, as the executive felt that much good would follow such a meeting. Unfortunately, owing to present d'ay conditions there were too few of these meetings, and in years to come we should look back with pleasure upon this occasion. The president went on to state that the Centre affairs had progressed smoothly during yet another successful season. He thanked the Carterton Club for making their green available for the occasion, and called upon the delegates to show their appreciation which was done in a very enthusiastic manner. Mr H. M. Smith, secretary of the Centre, in his remarks, briefly referred to the enthusiasm that had been aroused in competing for the various Centre trophies, and thanked the club secretaries for their loyal assistance during the season. It was interesting to note that included in the delegates were the presidents of each of the Wairarapa clubs. Personal. Private First Class T. Landsiedel and W. Richins were visitors to Car-' terton over the weekend. Maori Committee Dance. A very successful dance was held last Saturday night in the State Theatre by the Maori Committee. The combined orchestras of Messrs T. Udy and F. Pool supplied the music. Supper was served by the lady members of the committee. Labour Party Card Tourney. There was a good attendance at the weekly card tournament held in the Red Sheild Hut last Saturday night by the Labour Party Social Club. The winners were: —Ladies: Mrs Jensen, 1; Mrs A .Patterson, 2. Men: Mr Edwards, 1; Mrs G. Challis, 2. The gathering was most enjoyable and successful. REGENT THEATRE “GEORGE AND MARGARET.” The programme tonight will be headed by the brilliant comedy, “George and Margaret,” featuring Marie Lohr, Judy Kelly and Oliver Wakefield.
