NO VITAL CHANGE

ON RUSSIAN FRONT AIR BATTLES ALL ALONG j LINE. BITTER STRUGGLE IN KUBAN AREA. LONDON, April 18. No vital change in the situation is reported on the Russian front. The “Red Star” states that fierce air battles are going on all along the line. The Germans are throwing in fresh reserves ami many tanks into the waterlogged Kuban Valley, where the Red Army has beaten back all attacks made by the enemy in an effort to regain lost ground. On the Donetz front the Russians are holding on grimly to their positions on the west bank of the river. They have beaten off strong German attacks. Spring floods are making the going very hard and the fighting is still largely a matter of local skirmishes.
