REPEATED BLOWS
AT JAPANESE AERODROMES & BASES IN NORTH & SOUTH PACIFIC. STRUCK BY AMERICAN AIRCRAFT (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY, April 14. A United States Naval communique reports two air attacks on Munda, in New Georgia, in the South Pacific. On Monday night Army Liberator heavy bombers made an attack. On Tuesday morning Avenger torpedo-bombers, escorted by Corsair ' and Lightning fighters, carried on with bombs and machine-gun fire. Bombs were dropped on a runway and dispersal areas and fires were started from hits on an ammunition dump and in a camp area. In the North Pacific today, Army Mitchell medium bombers, with Corsair and Lightning fighters, carried out six attacks on Japanese installations at Kiska, in the Aleutians. Hits were scored on a runway and on gun emplacements in the main camp area.
