LADIES’ AUXILIARY

ANNUAL MEETING IN MASTERTON. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Masterton Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League was held yesterday afternoon. Mrs b. R. Gawith presided. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames E. G. Norman, P. J. Borthwick, P. H. Nathan, A. Caselberg, J. Caselberg, H. K. Mclntosh, T. Jordan, W. R. Birch and Miss B. Vallance. The report and balance sheet were adopted. ~ The election of officers and committee resulted as follows: President, Mrs S. R. Gawith; vice-presidents, Mesdames O. A. Bunny, D. Buchanan, A. Caselberg, A. H. Daniell, R. C. Drummond, H. McKenzie Douglas, J. V. Gordon, T. Jordan, W. H. Robieson, G. C. Williams, Misses C. Cameron and B. Vallance; committee, Mesdames P. J. Borthwick, W. R. Birch, H. Beetham, C. Cameron Cook, C. Deans, S. Fletcher, J. C. Forsyth, D. M. Graham, J. M. James, C. C. Jackson, W. G. Lamb, H. K. Mclntosh, E. G. Norman, F. Whitton, E. C. White, Misses Daniell, Guild and J McLaren, with power to add; hon. treasurer, Miss C. Cameron; hon. auditor, Mr A. D. Low; secretary, Miss A. Sellar; wool committee, Miss Cameron (convenor), with Mesdames O. A. Bunny, D. Buchanan, A. H. Daniell, S. R. Gawith and W. H. Robieson; purchasing commitee, Mesdames P. J. Bdrthwick, C. Deans, J. V. ..Gordon, H. K. Mclntosh, E. G. Norman and E. C. White. Miss Guild was re-elected delegate to the Mayoress’s Patriotic Committee. It was reported that the Navy League shop day in aid of the 1943 patriotic campaign had raised £2OO, and a letter of appreciation from the Provincial Patriotic Council was read. It was decided to endeavour to increase the membership, and each member of the committee was asked to try and enrol at least one new member before the next meeting. The need of securing young people as members was stressed. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to all who had assisted the Navy League during the year, and to Mrs Gawith,
