TOWN WOMEN’S GUILD
MEETING HELD YESTERDAY. PATRIOTIC ACTIVITIES. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Town Women’s Guild was held yesterday, the president, Mrs Copp, presiding. The new programmes were handed to members, the president being complimented on the splendid programme which had been arranged for the year. It was decided that only apologies for absence be received from sick people . The motto for the month was: Fear never robbed tomorrow of its sorrow, it only robs tomorrow of its strength.” Mrs Judd reported on patriotic activities, and thanked the members for goods and help received in connection with the patriotic quota. A sum of £5 was donated by the Guild with which to purchase ten parcels to be sent overseas. Mrs Lyttle appealed to members for old linen, beads and frocks, which would be offered for sale at the forthcoming Red Cross Society’s gathering. Mesdames Heyder, Speight and Snowsill sang a trio, which was much appreciated. The roll call was responded to by every member giving the date of hei birthday, and where she was born. Mrs Cleghorn addressed the meeting, her subject being “Italy,” for which she was thanked.
