PICTURE THEATRES.
COUNTY AFFAIRS BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was held yesterday afternoon. Mr E. W. Cheetham (chairman) presided. There were also present: Councillors D. Bennett, A. Gray, A. Forsberg, J. H. MacDonald, and O. Welch. The treasurer’s report, which showed a credit balance of £1,331 18s 6d, was adopted. A letter was received from the Wairarapa Hospital Board regarding proposals to raise a loan of £45,000. After discussion it was resolved that no objection be made to the Hospital Board’s proposals. The county engineers, Messrs Seaton, Sladden and Pavitt, reported on damage to Cleland’s Road Bridge. It was left to the chairman to go into the matter of arranging for repairs to this bridge. The Palmerston North City Council wrote stating that the setting up of the Manawatu Catchment Board had been approved at a meeting held in Palmerston North on March 25. A statement was received from the Masterton County Council regarding the allocation of heavy traffic fees for the quarter ending February 28, 1943, £36 3s 8d being the' Mauriceville County’s proportion.
