SUCCESSFUL DANCE BACHELORS AND SPINSTERS. (“Times-Age'’ Special.) A very successful dance, organised by the bachelors and spinsters of the district, was held recently. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs Geof. Houlbrooke, Messrs A. Rowden, D. Thompson and Colin Houlbrooke. Miss Betty Edmonds played several extras. Messrs B. Wright and K. Raleigh were capable M.C’s. The winner of a competition held was Mr G. Edmonds, of Alfredton. A lucky spot waltz was won by Miss Poole and her partner, and a Monte Carlo dance by Miss Z. Hart and her partner. Visitors were present from Alfredton, Rakaunui and Pongaroa, and contributed to the success of the dance. Supper was handed round, after which Mr P. McManaway thanked those present for their support. He also thanked the musicians for the good music provided. The secretary of the local patriotic committee was handed £7 2s 6d, the proceeds over and above expenses. Personal. Mrs G. Curtis is visiting Auckland, where she is staying with her sister, Mrs Earle Ryan.
