INDOOR BASKETBALL
WAIRARAPA INTERHOUSE ASSOCIATION EVENTS. CHAMPIONSHIPS TO COMMENCE NEXT WEEK. The Wairarapa Interhouse Association commenced its indoor basketball season in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium. Masterton, last night. There was a large audience to witness the many exciting games in which a high standard was set for so early in the season. The games took the form of a knockout competition and twenty-two teams competed. The championship matches •will commence next Monday night. From the enthusiasm which those present showed the prospects of a good season are considered to be bright. The referees were Ralph Lovelie, Verne Baxter, of the Marine Corps. Mr E. Jaspers, Misses Joan Gemmell and P. Hanley.' Mr L. A. Askew was games steward. Mr F. Stains was timekeeper and Mr G. Davis (secretary of the association) was scorekeeper. Results were: — Rangers A 6, W.F.C.A. 2; Hansells A 4. Cody's 2; Rangers A 12, Lancers 8; Hansells A 8, C. Smiths 0; Sparklets 4, Borthwicks 0; McKenzies 10, Cathies A 4; McDuff’s A 4, W.F.C.A. B 2; Hosiery Mills 12, United 2; Hansells B 4, Transport 0, Hansells B 14, McDuffs B; Cathies B 4, Rangers B 0.
