AIR ATTACKS
IN SOUTH AND NORTH PACIFIC. AMERICAN ACTIVITIES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) RUGBY, April 12. The United States Navy Department states: “On Saturday night Catalina patrol bombers bombed Japanese installations at Munda, on New Georgia Island, starting a small fire. On Sunday, Liberators heavy bombers attacked Kaluli, in the Shortland Island area. Hits were made on an airfield, runways and adjacent anti-aircraft positions. A force of Avenger torpedobombers carried out an ■ attack on Munda. Heavy explosions and fires resulted.
“Warhawks and Lightnings, in the North Pacific, on Saturday, twice attacked Kiska. The results were not observed.”
