High-powered American salesmanship assisted the cause of “Miss Greece” in the Christchurch carnival recently. Two United States servicemen bought a few shillings worth of tickets in various raffles from a street seller, and then offered to help her. Their methods were highly successful with passers-by and, when they, left the ticket-seller, who had hardly had time to realise what they were doing, they had increased her takings by more than £ 1 in less than five minutes.
