4 Mi- C. Van Praagh, of Masterton,’ has returned from a holiday spent at Raumati South Beach, Paraparaumu. Mr and Mrs N. Blatchford, of the Training Farm at Taratahi, have returned from a holiday spent in Napier. Mr L. R. Wilkinson, Mayor of Tauranga since 1935, has signified his intention of contesting the Tauranga seat as an Independent at the general election.
At the funeral of the late Miss E. G. Heckler, the pall-bearers were Messrs C. O. Evans, W. P. Evans, W. H. Heckler, A. C. Heckler, W. H. Heckler and Corporal A. Myers. At the conclusion of the monthly meeting of the Pahiatua Returned Servicemen’s Association, the retiring president, Mr M. R. Lawson, thanked members for the whole-hearted support accorded him during his term of office. He trusted that the co-operation and support would be extended to his successor, Mr G. Ancell.
