SOLDIER PARCELS

PACKING OF QUARTERLY QUOTA.

MASTERTON WOMEN’S WORK.

The Masterton Women’s Patriotic Committee will pack its quarterly quota of 576 parcels in the shop formerly occupied by Messrs Bullick, Blackmore, Ltd., in Queen Street, tomorrow and on Wednesday. The public is invited to inspect the work. Each parcel costs approximately 10s and contains a fruit cake, one tin of lamb and tongues, one tin of fruit, one tin of sweets, one tin of coffee and milk and soap. Coupons representing part of the cost of' the parcel will be on sale outside the shop and purchasers may insert notes in the parcels. Many 'appreciative letters have been received from men overseas who have received parcels. Writing to the secretary of the Masterton Patriotic Committee, a soldier asks the secretary to thank all who went to so much trouble and expense in sending these parcels. The New -Zealanders were envied by [other troops in the Middle East on that account, and the soldier said that in a parcel a’member of his unit had received was a card which stated that the children of a school had contributed their annual picnic money to buy parcels for soldiers. Although the parcels were appreciated, he and other soldiers, he stated, would much sooner have let the children enjoy their treat.
