SPORT AND THE WAR PROSPECTS FOR THE SEASON. (“Times-Age” Special.) Owing to so many of the local footballers and hockey players being in the armed forces football and hockey will be at a very low ebb this season. Many footballers express the view that the Wairarapa Rugby Union should go into recess until the war is over as scores of Wairarapa footballers are either in camp or overseas, and that a continuation of the competitions would be more or less a farce. REGENT THEATRE “WHISTLING IN THE' DARK.” “Whistling in the Dark,” a new comedy thriller, will be finally shown tonight. Ann Rutherford, Conrad Veidt and Virginia Grey are in the picture.
