WEDDING

GILDING—DICKENS A quiet popular wedding took place at St Matthew’s Church, Masterton, on Saturday last when Miss Alice Dickens, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs W. S. Dickens, “Riverside,” Tinui, was married to Mr Seymour Gilding, eldest son of Mrs G. Gilding, of Napier, and the late Mr Gilding, formerly of Masterton. The Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was escorted by her aunt, Mrs William Burling, wore a suit of periwinkle blue embossed moracain with hat to match, and carried a posy of pink carnations. Mr R. Page was best man. After the ceremony Mrs Burling entertained the wedding party at afternoon tea. Mrs Burling wore a smart black frock and carried a posy of red carnations and autumn leaves. Mr and Mrs Gilding left later for the north, where the honeymoon is being spent. Prior to his marriage Mr Seymour Gilding was met by a number of the members of the Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society, at the invitation of Mrs H. P. Hugo, at her residence, Renall Street, when a most enjoyable musical gathering was held. Mr Gilding was presented with a handsome a picture by those present in appreciation of the services rendered by him to the Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society.
