TRIBAL COMMITTEE MEETING AT PAPA WAI. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Wairarapa Tribal Executive Committee was held at Papawai at the weekend, the chairman, Mr P. Paku, presiding. Delegates from the whole of the Tribal Committees from Pahiatua to Cape Palliser were in attendance. Mr Crosbie, the Manpower Officer, was also present. The delegates reported on the proceedings at the Rotorua conference, and were thanked. Delegates reported on the activities of the various Tribal Committees. Other matters affecting the operations of the executive were considered and dealt with. Lieutenant Manihera, recruiting officer, submitted a report of the work done by him in connection with the Maori War Effort Organisation over a period of six months. Lake Closed. The outlet of the lake is again closed. Ducks and Swans Numerous. Ducks and swans are very numerous on the various lagoons in this locality. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Cook were visitors to | Pirinoa during the weekend. Mrs J. Phillips is staying with her daughter, Mrs Spicer. Miss M. Enoka has left to take up her residence at Lower Hutt. Lieutenant Manihera and Messrs P. Paku and G. TeWhaiti, who represented the Wairarapa Tribal Executive Committee at the recent conference at Rotorua, have returned home. Mrs Thomas has returned from Taumaranui. Mr J. Smart has returned from a visit to relatives in Pahiatua.
