INFANT MISTRESS FAREWELLED.

Prior to her leaving the Central School to take up a new position Miss Wallis was entertained by the staffs of the Central and East schools at afternoon tea. Miss .Wallis has held the position of infant mistress at the Central School for nine years and her departure Will leave a gap not easily filled. . „ -r, r’ During the proceedings Mr K G. Coddington, headmaster, took the opportunity to present Miss Wallis with a crystal bowl as a mark of esteem and appreciation. , Mr Coddington expressed the regret of the staff at Miss Wallis’s departure and their best wishes for her future in Palmerston North He hoped she would be as successful and as happy (if not more so) as she had been at the Central School. He thanked Miss Wallis personally for her help and for her work over this long period and expressed the hope that she would have many pleasant memories of the Central School. Miss Wallis in responding pointed out that she had spent the whole of her child life at the Central School and had in addition spent two years there as a pupil teacher. She thanked the staff for their gift and assured them that her remembrances would be happy ones—that the staff had always pulled together harmoniously and had in particular shown the greatest helpfulness toward each other. Miss Wallis has left to take up the position of infant mistress at the West End School, Palmerston North.
