BOY SCOUTS
MEETING IN MASTERTON. PROGRAMME OF TRAINING ARRANGED. At a meeting of Scoutmasters and Cubmasters representing the Northern District of’ the Wairarapa, held in Masterton, Mr R. Barton, County Commissioner, and the District Scoutmaster were present. All the aspects of scouting in the district were reviewed and a programme of training decided on. It was felt by those present that there was room for more Scout troops in Masterton, and it was suggested that Lansdowne and Upper Plain should have their own troops, the difficulty, of course, being Scout or Cubmasters, but it was hoped to do something in this direction in the near future. It was stated that there appeared to be a lack of appreciation on the part of the communities where Scout troops are stationed, and of the public generally, as to the vital part this system of youth training could play in our future development. The Scout Movement was a system of training that should receive all the help possible.
