OBITUARY

MRS R. W. BROOKS. An old and respected resident of the Mauriceville district, Mrs Mary Ann Brooks, wife of Mr Richard William Brooks, died this morning at her residence, 18 McKenna Street, Masterton. Born in Cumberland, England, 70 years ago, she came to New Zealand and the Wairarapa as a child. She had lived the greater part of her life in Mauriceville, where her husband followed farming pursuits, retiring 20 ears ago to live in Masterton. She was of a quiet, retiring disposition. The late Mrs Brooks is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs M. Gleeson (Masterton), besides nine grand-children and one great-grandson. Her only son, died in 1918.

The funeral will take place in Masterton on Monday, leaving St. Patrick’s Church, following Mass at 9 a.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
