OVER SOUTH-EAST BENGAL FIVE JAPANESE RAIDERS SHOT DOWN. SEVERAL OTHERS BADLY DAMAGED. LONDON, April 2. In Burma the R.A.F. is keeping up its day and night attacks on the Japanese. In south-east Bengal eleven Hurricanes engaged 30 Japanese bombers and a fighter escort yesterday. The Hurricanes shot down five of the raiders and damaged several more, at least three so badly that they could not have got back to their base.
