MEETING IN MASTERTON. The monthly meeting of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held in the McLaren Room, Knox Church, Masterton. Miss Tankersley presided. A letter was received in connection with sly-grog selling throughout the Dominion, pointing out. the fallacy of the statement that no-licence was the cause of such. Mrs Trevorrow agreed to take charge of the bring and buy table at future meetings. Mrs Morice and Miss Tankersley were appointed to represent the union on the committee of the sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. Mrs Trevorrow supplied the Temperance Fact—“ Fourteen pints of beer do not contain as much food value as 1 pint of milk.” The tea hostesses were Mesdames Trevorrow and Vennell. Mrs Speight will give a report of the proceedings at the W.C.T.U. at the May meeting. It was announced that at the May meetings Mrs Speight will give a report of the proceedings at the W.C.T.U. Convention.
