ATHLETIC SPORTS LOCAL SCHOOL RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The secondary department of the Eketahuna District High School held its annual athletic sports recently, the results being as follows: — Senior champion: Verna Cooper and Jack Powell. Junior champions: Nancye Eagle and Owen Curtis. Senior jumps, girls: High, V. Cooper 1; long, V. Cooper 1; standing, V. Cooper 1; hop, step and jump,, V. Cooper 1. Junior, O. Curtis and J. Houlbrooke 1. The sports were very capably carried out by Miss W. Towgood, relieving secondary assistant. The school staff desire to thank Mr Len Eagle for valuable assistance with the sports and Miss Anderson for allowing the children to use a race track on the estate. The following swimming distances have been completed by children at the school: 1 mile, Cora Davie; 880 yds, John Dawson, George Waterreus; 275yds, Beth Davie; 250yds, Heather Ramsay; 220yds, Thyra Evans, Mae Carseldine, Betty Carseldine, Pat Stewart, Douglas Houlbrooke, George Waterreus, Gilbert Connor, Eric Curtis; 100yds, Hazel Blewett, Owen Curtis; 50yds, Shirley Ramsay. Coralie Cooper, Verna Cooper, Zona Cooper, Alec Golder; 25yds, Joyce Willis, Fay Harris. Gifts of Books. Two more sets of literature books have been donated to the Eketahuna School secondary department library, by Mrs L. Sigvertsen and Miss E. O’Donnell.
