WORKMEN’S FRIEND NO. 2. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Workmen’s Friend No. 2 Building Society was held last night, Mr Wm. Kemp presiding over a fair ‘ attendance of members. An apology for absence was received from Mr S. M. Gilding. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The annual report stated that the sum of £l,lOO was offered for sale but no tenders were received for this amount, and the total sum was appropriated by ballot. The secretary reported that there were still 171 shares available for appropriation. The retiring directors, Messrs A. E. Hubbard, T. B. Braggins, and H. L. Price were re-elected. Mr A. W. G. Rollings was appointed shareholders 1 auditor for the ensuing year. A ballot for an appropriation of £6OO was held at the meeting and Mr J. Whitton, of Masterton,.was declared entitled to a sum of £4OO and Mr C. A. Cumming, Nelson, to £2OO. A vote of thanks was passed to the directors for their work during the past year. MEETING OF DIRECTORS. The monthly meeting of directors was held after the annual meeting, there being present: Messrs Wm. Kemp, T. B. Braggins, A. V. Dixon, E. J. Brown, E. H. Morton, A. E. Hubbard, C. W .Walker and H. L. Price. An apology for absence was received from Mr S. M. Gilding. Mr Wm. Kemp was unanimously reelected chairman of directors, and Mr A. V. Dixon was re-elected vice-chair-man. Mr H. J. Fairchild was re-elected directors’ auditor. The finance report as submitted by the secretary showed a very satisfactory position and arrangements will be made at the next meeting of directors for a further appropriation. An application for a transfer of shares was approved.
