HEAVY RAIDS
ON BERLIN & THE REHR MOST SUCCESSFUL IN SPITE OF BAD WEATHER. TOTAL OF 33 AIRCRAFT MISSING. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, March 30. Berlin was again heavily raided by R.A.F. bombers last night. Preliminary reports state that the raid was most successful. Twenty-one of our bombers are missing. Borkum, the German island in the Friesian group, at the mouth of the Ems, about nine miles from the coast of Holland, and targets in the Ruhr, were also attacked. From these raids 12 bombers failed to return. Crews of the British bombers engaged have given their stories of last night's heavy raid on Berlin, the second on the German capital over the weekend. Extremely bad weather was encountered on the journey, with icing clouds up to a great height, hail, rain and electrical storms. The weather cleared over Germany. The defences were stronger than those on Saturday night. Searchlights swept the sky and night fighters were active. Ovex’ Britain today, the Germans lost at least one aircraft in a raid on a south-west coast town. A number of people were injured.
